When your account requires two-step verification, DropStream asks for a 6-digit code after your password at sign-in. By default that code is emailed to you. Adding an authenticator app is optional — it’s faster and works offline, and email stays available as a backup, so you can’t be locked out.
This article is for any DropStream user whose account requires two-step verification. If your account doesn’t require it yet, an administrator turns it on first under Settings → Authentication Sources (see Require Two-Step Verification (MFA)).
Set up an authenticator app
You’ll need an authenticator app installed on your phone — Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, or similar.
- In the DropStream app header, click your user name and select Preferences.
-
In the Two-Step Verification card, find Authenticator app and click Set up.
-
On the Set Up Authenticator App page, open your authenticator app and scan the QR code. If you can’t scan it, enter the Setup key shown below the code manually instead.
- Enter the 6-digit code your app displays.
- Click Verify and enable.
Your authenticator app is now set up, and the Two-Step Verification card shows an Enabled badge. The next time you sign in, you can use the code from your app instead of waiting for an email.
Sign in with two-step verification
- Enter your email and password as usual.
-
On the Two-step verification screen, enter the 6-digit code. If you’ve added an authenticator app, use the code it shows; otherwise, use the code emailed to you.
- Optional: select Trust this device for 30 days to skip the code on this browser for the next month.
- Click Verify.
On this screen you can also click Resend code if an emailed code hasn’t arrived, or switch between your email and authenticator app with the Use … instead link.
Remove your authenticator app
You can remove your authenticator app at any time. If your account still requires two-step verification, you’ll go back to receiving the code by email — you won’t be locked out.
- In the DropStream app header, click your account name and select Preferences.
- In the Two-Step Verification card, enter your password under Confirm your password to remove the authenticator app.
- Click Remove.
