Commerce7 - Configure for Automated Fulfillment

Karl Falconer · Updated

This article walks through connecting a Commerce7 store to DropStream so orders flow automatically to your warehouse and shipment + inventory updates flow back to Commerce7.

The setup is sequenced: you create the connection in DropStream first (with just your Commerce7 tenant), then install the DropStream app on your Commerce7 store, then return to DropStream to pick the inventory location.

Prerequisites

  • Admin access to your Commerce7 store. Your tenant is the subdomain of your admin URL — for example, if you sign in at https://mywinery.admin.platform.commerce7.com, your tenant is mywinery.
  • The DropStream app must not already be installed on your Commerce7 store before you start. If it is, uninstall it first.

(Optional) Configure a Custom App via App Marketplace

Most accounts can skip this step and use the standard public DropStream app on Commerce7. Configure App Marketplace only if you need to use your own custom Commerce7 app (for example, to scope permissions differently).

Commerce7 - Configure App Marketplace

1. Create the Connection in DropStream

  1. In your DropStream Dashboard, go to Connections and click Add Connection.
  2. Basic Information — enter a Connection Name and click Continue.
  3. Merchant Information — choose Use existing merchant or Create new merchant, then click Continue.
  4. Warehouse Setup — select the warehouse for this connection and click Continue.
  5. Store Setup — click Create new store, then:
    • For Name, enter a name for the store (for example, your winery name).
    • For Platform, select Commerce7.
    • For Tenant, enter your Commerce7 subdomain (the <tenant> part of https://<tenant>.admin.platform.commerce7.com).
  6. Click Add connection.

DropStream - Connection Wizard, Store Setup step with Commerce7 selected

At this stage the Test Connection button will not yet succeed — that’s expected, because the DropStream app is not yet installed on your Commerce7 store. The Setup Instructions panel in the dialog mirrors the sequence below.

2. Install the DropStream App on Commerce7

In your Commerce7 admin, install the DropStream app on your store. See the Commerce7 documentation for current install instructions. Once the app is installed, your DropStream connection is confirmed.

If you configured a custom app via App Marketplace, install that app instead of the standard DropStream app.

3. Finalize Store Settings in DropStream

  1. Return to DropStream and edit the store you just created (from Connections or Stores).
  2. Click Test Connection — it should now succeed.
  3. Under Location Settings, choose a Default Inventory Location. This is the Commerce7 inventory location that DropStream will update with stock counts.
  4. Optionally, enable Auto Enable Inventory if you want DropStream to activate inactive products in Commerce7 when an inventory update arrives for them.
  5. Under Order Import Settings, optionally restrict which orders import to DropStream:
    • Fulfillment Status Filter — leave blank to import all, or pick one of: Fulfilled, Not Fulfilled, Partially Fulfilled, No Fulfillment Required.
    • Compliance Status Filter — leave blank to import all, or pick one of: Compliant, Forced, Not Checked, No Compliance Required, Quarantined, Void.
  6. Click Save changes.

4. Enable the Connection

Once the store is saved with a valid inventory location, enable the connection from the Connections page. Orders placed in Commerce7 will begin importing to DropStream and routing to your warehouse on your configured schedule.

Inventory tracking

Inventory updates from your warehouse flow back to the Default Inventory Location you selected above. To control which products are synced and on what cadence, see the inventory documentation in the DropStream app section.
