WooCommerce - Configure for Automated Fulfillment

Neil G · Updated

DropStream connects your WooCommerce store to a warehouse management system so orders flow automatically from sale to shipment, and stock levels stay in sync without manual intervention.

What this integration does

  • Imports orders from WooCommerce into DropStream.
  • Forwards orders to your warehouse management system, with line items mapped by SKU.
  • Posts fulfillment status back to WooCommerce when the warehouse ships, including tracking numbers and carrier information.
  • Pushes inventory updates from the warehouse to WooCommerce.

What you’ll need

  • A WooCommerce store you can sign in to, with admin access to create a REST API key.
  • Your WooCommerce Store URL, Consumer Key, and Consumer Secret.
  • A DropStream account. If you don’t have one yet, contact your DropStream administrator or fulfillment provider.

Setup at a glance

The setup involves work on two sides — WooCommerce, then DropStream — and the recommended order is:

  1. Verify requirements (in WooCommerce) — check that your store is compatible with DropStream.
  2. Gather shipping methods (in WooCommerce) — map each WooCommerce shipping method to the fulfillment center’s shipping codes.
  3. Get your API credentials (in WooCommerce) — generate a REST API key and note the store URL.
  4. Enable API access (in DropStream) — add the store through the Add Connection wizard and enter your WooCommerce credentials.
  5. Enable shipment tracking (in WooCommerce) — install the Shipment Tracking extension so tracking numbers and URLs reach shipment confirmations.
  6. Review order status — confirm orders are flowing end-to-end once the integration is enabled.

Who does what

  • If you manage your own DropStream account, you’ll do every step yourself — switching between WooCommerce and DropStream as the article order suggests.
  • If a third-party fulfillment provider is configuring DropStream for you, you handle the WooCommerce-side steps (verify, gather, get credentials, enable shipment tracking). Send the resulting credentials to your provider; they handle the DropStream side.

Notes and limitations

  • By default, DropStream imports orders that are in Processing status in WooCommerce.
  • The Shipment Tracking extension must be installed in WooCommerce to receive tracking numbers and URLs in shipment confirmations.
  • SKUs in WooCommerce must match the SKUs in your warehouse management system for line items to map correctly.
