Magento - Configuring SKUs

Stock keeping units (SKU) are merchant defined codes used to uniquely identify products in a warehouse. It is critical that the SKUs defined in Magento match exactly to the SKUs loaded into your warehouse management system.

Options include:

  • Adding a SKU
  • Modifying a SKU

Adding a SKU to a New Product in Magento

  1. Login to your Magento administration panel.

  2. Click Catalog Manage Products. Then click the Add Product button.

  3. On the New Product screen, define your SKU.

Modify a SKU for an Existing Product in Magento

  1. Login to your Magento administration panel

  2. Click Catalog Manage Products.

  3. Click on the desired product listing to begin editing.

  4. Modify the SKU and click the Save button when finished.

Note: By default all Magento products require a SKU. There are no restrictions on the types of products you can use in Magento when using DropStream.
